Privacy
What this site stores, why, for how long, and how to delete it. The site’s own pages and scripts set no cookies and use no third-party analytics.
What is stored
- First-email list
- Your email address (lowercased), when you agreed, which version of this notice you saw, and the status “unverified”, because this site doesn’t check that you own the address. Each address is stored once: signing up again with an address that’s already listed adds nothing and leaves the existing entry as it was, and the answer is the same either way, so it doesn’t reveal who is listed.
- Sponsor inquiries
- The contact email, organization and message you send, when you agreed, and the notice version.
- Removal keys
- Before a sign-up or inquiry is sent, your browser creates a random removal key. After sending, it’s shown to you as a private link, and it stays on screen even if the site’s answer never arrives. Sending the same details again reuses it, so a retry isn’t stored twice. The site stores only a one-way fingerprint (hash) of the key, never the key, and never sends a key back. For a sign-up it also stores a hash of the key together with the address, used only to recognise a retry; without the key, that hash can’t be matched to any address. A key deletes only the entry its own request added: if the address was already listed, the new key deletes nothing, and the existing entry still answers only to its own key. Anyone who has a key can use it, and it says nothing about who owns the email address.
- Abuse protection
- To limit automated and repeated submissions, the server counts requests per day under a keyed fingerprint of the IP address the hosting platform reports for your connection. The fingerprint changes every day and the IP address itself is never stored. If the platform reports no address, the request is refused rather than counted in a shared bucket.
- Page counts
- Daily totals of page views and a few events (comparison opened, filter used, source link opened, dataset downloaded), by page path and a broad source: direct, internal, search, social, referral or unknown. No cookies, identifiers, IP addresses, full referrer addresses, query strings or browser details are stored with them. These are page views and events, not unique visitors.
Why
The list exists so that, if email updates ever start, there is a list of people who asked for them. Email delivery hasn’t started: no email has been sent, no email service is connected, and this notice will be updated before anything is sent.
Inquiries are stored so they can be reviewed and answered by email. Nothing is sent automatically. Request counters exist only to slow down abuse. Page counts show which pages are useful.
Nothing is sold, shared for advertising or used to profile anyone.
How long
Each kind of data below becomes due for deletion after the period shown, and is deleted at the next cleanup after that. Cleanup runs with the first form submission or page count of each UTC day, and whenever the site’s maintenance check requests it. If no cleanup runs, deletion waits for the next one, so these periods mark when deletion becomes due, not exact deadlines.
- First-email list
- Until you delete the sign-up with its removal key, or 365 days after it was made.
- Sponsor inquiries
- Until you delete the inquiry with its removal key, or 365 days after it was sent.
- Removal key fingerprints
- Deleted when the key is used, or with the sign-up or inquiry they belong to. Fingerprints from a sign-up request are kept 365 days even when the address was already listed, so a retry gets the same answer throughout.
- Request counters
- Until their UTC day ends.
- Page counts
- 400 days.
What this site doesn’t do
- The site’s own pages, scripts and forms set no cookies and use no browser storage; your removal link exists only on screen until you save it. The hosting platform may set cookies it needs to run or protect the service; this site doesn’t read them. Browsers that send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control aren’t counted at all.
- No third-party scripts, fonts or analytics; every file comes from this site. Recognisable bots are left out of page counts, though not every bot can be recognised.
- No accounts, wallet connections or payments.
- No email is sent and no address is checked for ownership. Nothing is deleted by email address, and no removal key is ever replaced, recovered or linked to an existing entry by address.
Hosting
The hosting infrastructure may log requests, such as IP address, time, requested page and browser details, to run and secure the service. Those logs are kept by the hosting provider under its own policies, not in this site’s database.
Changes
This notice is versioned. Every sign-up and inquiry records the version it agreed to; the current version is . There is no separate contact address yet, so deletion works without one, through the form below.
Delete your data
Use the private removal link or key you got when you joined the list or sent an inquiry. It deletes the one sign-up or inquiry its request added, and the key itself.
The answer is the same whether or not the key matched anything, so this form can’t reveal who is on the list. A lost key can’t be replaced or sent again, and signing up again with the same address doesn’t create a key for the existing entry; that’s also why knowing an address never lets anyone delete someone else’s entry. Without its key, an entry is deleted at the first cleanup after 365 days.
